A crowd of nearly 100 people gathered outside Greenwich Town Hall Friday to call for equal rights for women, and to urge women to make their political voices heard.

People wore T-shirts and held signs proclaiming their stances on issues like reproductive rights and the wage gap. Organizers say women have made a lot of progress in the last century, but that now is not the time to get complacent.

Democratic Rep. Jim Himes joined local candidates Laura Kostin and Alex Bergstein in calling on women to get involved.

"We need to hold our elected officials accountable," says Bergstein, who is running for state Senate. "We can no longer accept that what they say is what they do, nor can we accept that the strides that we've made or the victories that we've won will not be reversed."

Organizers say they're hoping the turnout today is a preview of enthusiasm in the upcoming midterms.
