Thursday's nights rainstorms brought down a dozen utility poles in Yonkers, knocking out power to thousands.
Firefighters say the storm's strong wind gusts most likely brought down the poles. Most of the outages are on Yonkers and Ridgewood avenues, where most of the poles came down. Con Edison crews are now on the scene, working through the night to restore power.
Elsewhere, drivers say they have had to take things slow on the roads because of the large puddles and flooding.
Earlier Thursday evening, an Amtrak train was stranded on the tracks for three hours between Rye and Greenwich. Wires on two northbound tracks came down, causing the delay. Amtrak officials say another train was brought in to bring the passengers to Stamford, Connecticut.
