Powerful thunderstorms ripped through the Hudson Valley Wednesday and brought down trees, including one that fell on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers, causing a traffic nightmare.
The downed tree covered the northbound lanes of the parkway near Exit 6 following strong storms and heavy rain Wednesday afternoon. Cars were brought to a stop, with some commuters even turning around and driving the wrong way to escape.
Crews responded to the scene and began to tear apart the tree and move the pieces off the road. A short time later, traffic began moving again.
No injuries were reported.
