A Yonkers man has died in a wrong-way crash on the Major Deegan Expressway.
The NYPD says Dovid Kaplan was driving the wrong way yesterday morning up the ramp at West 233rd Street and Jerome Avenue in the Bronx. Investigators say he hit a Department of Transportation truck head-on. No one else was hurt.
According to police, the 63-year-old Vietnam veteran and father of two was on his way to his treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder when he was killed.
Kaplan's wife says he was her foundation and that he promised to make her laugh her whole life.
The congregation at the Lincoln Park Jewish Center is also stunned by the loss. A flag outside the Jewish Center has been lowered to half-staff in his honor.
