The New York City Department of Education may hang up on its cell phone ban in Bronx and city schools. Education officials confirm they're planning a pilot program where Bronx and city students would be able to check their cell phones at school doors. As part of the program, participating schools would allow students to keep their phones in coin-operated lockers starting next fall.Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NYC) and Schools Chancellor Joel Klein reportedly have said the storage lockers would not work because of the lack of money and space.
