An attending physician at North Westchester Hospital spoke to News 12 about the warning signs of hypothermia.
Dr. Joshua Geltman says the human body is generally resilient to cold temperatures, but prolonged exposure can put individuals at risk. There are several signs to be aware of.
“The earliest stage is you're shivering, you're starting to feel some numbness, tingling in your fingers and your toes and you maybe start to feel a little bit slow,” he said.
The doctor says there is also a stage of hypothermia when people stop shivering. He refers to this as “the danger zone."
