Police are on the hunt for thieves who broke into a disabled man's home, beat him and took off with his cash.
The 44-year-old victim, who did not want his name released, told News 12 Westchester that he tried to fight off his attackers, but his disabilities prevented him from doing more. He says he lost his left eye and right leg to diabetes.
The victim claims his female aide answered the door at his Kubasak Trinity Manor apartment Thursday morning. He says two men with guns came in, threw the aide to floor and struck him in the head with one of their guns. The man says there was also a third suspect waiting in the hallway.
Police say the victim told them the suspects got away with a lock box containing $170,000 he received from a lawsuit after being hit by an MTA police car. But the man told News 12 Westchester he was never hit by a car and that there was no settlement. He claims the box contained $600 and his late wife's jewelry.
Detectives say they have leads in the case. There are surveillance cameras in the building and the victim says his attackers were caught on tape.
