As the proverb goes - "one person’s trash is another person’s treasure."
And one nonprofit is trying to return someone’s treasure that they found in the trash.
It is small, silver, with two hearts and a pink stone.
If that description rings a bell – then it might be your ring.
Volunteers with the nonprofit Sanitation Foundation said they came across the lost ring during one of its cleanup events on Aug. 2 in Mott Haven.
It was found in the weeds along the curb on Alexander and Third avenues, across the street from the Mott Haven Houses.
The ring is engraved with Bronx Collegiate Academy Class of 2024 and has two initials inside.
“We’ve definitely found treasures and trash,” said Johari James, manager of community engagement for the Sanitation Foundation. “We’ve found some jewelry, maybe a necklace here, but nothing that has the actual initials on it and has some sort of description that we can trace it back to the owner. Hopefully, this is a wonderful story for somebody. We can bring some light to somebody who may have lost their ring.”
If this is your ring, or you know someone who lost it, send an email to the Sanitation Foundation at info@sanitationfoundation.org
