Neighbors who knew one of two men allegedly killed by a 15-year-old girl say his murder shocked their neighborhood.
Sharell Butler allegedly murdered Christopher Umpierre and John Hopkins-Drago, both in their 20s. Authorities say Butler shot Umpierre to death when several people entered an apartment and demanded cash and property. Umpierre?s neighbors say he was a good kid. ?He was very soft-spoken,? one neighbor says. ?We liked him.?
According to other neighbors, the area was crime-free. Neighbors say they were used to leaving doors open, since the area was usually quiet.
The body of Butler?s other alleged victim, Hopkins-Drago, was found in pieces, stuffed into a shopping bag.
Butler faces charges including murder and robbery. She is being held without bail and will be tried as an adult. News 12 The Bronx reached out to Butler?s attorney, who is not commenting at this time.
