A Derby mailman serving the Stamford community for over 40 years is retiring.

Charlie Seefeldt has spent countless hours commuting from his home in Derby all the way to Stamford.

The community joined together on Wednesday to celebrate and honor Seefeldt for his many years of service.

"It's such a warm feeling and it's hard for me to put it into words," Seefeldt said. "Everybody has been so loving and caring, not only just towards me but wanting to know about my family and what I plan on doing."

Seefeldt says he will now be able to attend his son's sporting events and spend more time with his wife and their lovely dog Piper.
