Protesters in Brooklyn were set on disrupting the royal visit by Prince William and his wife Kate in one of the many race-related demonstrations happening nationwide.
The protests took place outside the Barclays Center. Inside, the royals attended the Brooklyn Nets basketball game.
While the demonstrators were not acknowledged by the royal couple, President Barack Obama says he hears the cries from protests around the country. He spoke on BET Monday evening about the task force he has now assigned to look into police procedures and how to make the system work for everyone.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is also working to meet the demands of the people. He is now requesting that Gov. Andrew Cuomo make his office the lead agency to investigate when an unarmed civilian is killed by a police officer, and prosecute them if necessary.
A spokesperson for Gov. Cuomo's office says they are looking into the attorney general's request.
The president's task force is expected to take 90 days before a full report will reach the president's desk.
