Dozens of people took to the streets in Nyack Friday to rally for climate justice.
The movement was one of thousands around the world that calls on world leaders to curb greenhouse gases and fossil fuel use. It occurred as officials meet in Madrid for the United Nations climate conference.
In Rockland, environmentalists also have local demands. Youth activists who organized the Nyack movement are calling on county officials to hire a sustainability coordinator.
County Executive Ed Day, who attended the strike, heard their demands and said he is already in the hiring process.
