The state gaming board's decision to reject any casinos for the Hudson Valley could wind up in court.
The state NAACP is considering legal action claiming the decision is discriminatory.
NAACP officials say Orange County, and especially the area around Newburgh, is in desperate need of the economic boost a casino would bring. They find the failure to place one near Newburgh troubling.
Originally, the state had considered several proposals for casinos in Orange County, including one at Stewart Airport.
The Stewart Airport plan was seen as the only viable one for the area, but the board limited further consideration to the area around Binghamton.
New Windsor Supervisor George Green echoes the concerns of the NAACP and says the town of New Windsor might go to court as well.
Local NAACP officials say the final decision on taking the state to court will have to come from their national organization
