14ds agoNew data released by the Westchester Children’s Association shows 20% of children in the county live in poverty, with higher rates among Black and Hispanic youth.
The annual data investigates demographic and socioeconomic data related to local children and families.
"Advocating for equitable programs and policies is crucial,” said Westchester Children’s Association executive director Allison Lake. “From advocating to expand funds for the County Youth Bureau for out-of-school mental health supports, to improving the NYS Child Tax Credit, to school meals for all."
The data also revealed the last decade has seen the number of children of color increase by 185%.
