A 40-year-old Piermont woman was struck by a 70-year-old New Jersey driver Thursday evening, leaving her in serious, but stable condition.
The incident occurred along Highland Avenue in Piermont around 7 p.m. as she crossed Route 9W. The woman was captured on dashcam video exclusively obtained by News 12 just before the incident.
Police say the driver stayed on scene and was cooperative with investigators. Police have not yet determined if the driver will be charged with a crime.
Chief Michael O'Shea called the incident one of the worst he has ever seen.
“We see some bad ones, but this was bad,” he told News 12.
Piermont police say they are trying to prevent the number of pedestrian and cyclist accidents that happen on Route 9W.
