A local business is shining a light on Heart Health Month with a "Dam Good" fundraiser.
Dam Good English Muffins was started in 2017 by a couple living in Croton-On-Hudson.
The "dam" portion of the name refers to the Croton Dam.
The family-run business is now donating 10% of sales on its original white vegan sourdough muffins to the American Heart Association and Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in Westchester this month.
Olivia Weale and her mother Denise Weale say this fundraiser is personal, as they both have heart conditions.
Olivia Weale was diagnosed with a third-degree heart block at just 9 months old and has received multiple pacemakers at Maria Fareri.
Denise Weale recently discovered one of her arteries was completely blocked and had to have two stents put in. "I can't stress enough for women to trust what they are feeling, trust their bodies, trust their instincts to advocate for themselves to get the care that they need," says Denise Weale.
You can also add a donation to the American Heart Association when making purchases on the company's website.
