Westchester County prosecutors appeared in court Tuesday, asking to increase the bail amount for the Rockland woman who is charged in connection with a fatal double hit-and-run accident in White Plains.
The request comes after the district attorney?s office found out that 37-year-old Sheldene Campbell, of Pomona, is wanted in Woodcliff Lake, N.J.
Sources say Campbell is accused of driving drunk with her 3-year-old daughter in the backseat, leaving her 10-year-old son unattended and assaulting a police officer last month.
Campbell missed her court appearance Tuesday because her attorney says she was not well enough. She is currently being held on $25,000 bail at the psychiatric unit of the Westchester County Jail under strict observation.
Campbell is accused of leaving the scene of a fatal accident after she allegedly ran down 45-year-old Roseanne Schiavone, fracturing her leg, and then struck and killed 65-year-old Marie Bucci in White Plains Sunday. She was arrested more than two miles away from the scene of the incidents.
Campbell is expected back in court next Wednesday, when her bail could be increased.
