Police say that the weeklong investigation into the disappearance of a Connecticut couple hasn't turned up much yet.

"We're still hoping they're on vacation," says Easton Police Chief Tim Shaw.

Neighbors say Jeffrey and Jeannette Navin hadn't lived in the home they rented in Easton very long.

Their pickup truck was found in a parking lot off Exit 42 of the Merritt Parkway over the weekend.

A possible lead may be that the couple's disappearance could be related to their finances. State records show that Jeffrey Navin owed more than $2 million in debt.

Police say they are looking into the couple's financial records, but family members say it's unlikely that the debt has anything to do with the couple's disappearance.

David Smith, an employee at the business Navin co-owned, says the couple's absence is putting a strain on day-to-day operations. "It's hard, because it's a family business, and they have to keep the business afloat," Smith says.
