News 12 got an inside look at how Westchester County is preparing to open two of its beaches for the pre-season on Saturday.
Peter Tartaglia, from the Parks Department, said the county owns and operates Glen Island Park in New Rochelle and Croton Point Park Beach in Croton.
He said they open at 11 a.m. on Saturday and explained what crews were doing to prepare them for the opening weekend.
"Well, I mean everything," Tartaglia said. "[Placing] the lifeguard chairs.... [putting] the buoys out in the water."
Tartaglia said there's no shortage of lifeguards. He said they are fully staffed and are preparing for plenty of people to patronize the beaches this weekend.
"It's Memorial Day weekend, and if the weather forecast holds true, it should be good crowds." Tartaglia.
