The search for a kayaker who went missing on the Hudson River continued this weekend, after his fiancee was charged with his murder.
Angelika Graswald, 35, and her fiance, Vincent Viafore, 46, kayaked together in two separate crafts from Plum Point to Bannerman's Island nearly two weeks ago. While speaking with News 12, Graswald said they were overwhelmed by increasing wind and waves, which caused them to fall into the frigid water.
Graswald was rescued near the Cornwall Yacht Club, but the body of her fiance has not been found, despite extensive searches by multiple agencies and departments.
State police and dive teams were back in the Hudson River this weekend, combing the waters for any trace of Viafore. Authorities are reaching out to the public, especially fishermen and boaters, to assist in the search. Police will handed out fliers to residents.
Police say that while Graswald told them Viafore fell out of his kayak, investigators have found inconsistencies in her story.
Graswald is charged with second-degree murder in Viafore's presumed death. She is being held in Orange County Jail without bail.
