The Westchester County Health Department says the COVID-19 positivity rate has increased a bit over the last few days but it's still hovering around 1%.
Health officials say that as long as it stays at that level, no serious adjustments will need to be made.
County Executive George Latimer says containing the spread comes down to everyday decisions such as wearing masks and residents doing their part. "What's the intelligent decision for you, as an individual? That's the choice you make. Do you take this action? Do you put yourself, by doing this thing, in a position of greater, or lesser, harm?"  Latimer says one person had died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. That’s the first COVID death in the county in two weeks.
The latest data shows the number of new cases across the region:
  • 40 in Westchester
  • 34 in Rockland
  • 17 in Orange
  • 8 in Dutchess
  • 4 in Putnam
  • 4 in Sullivan
  • 1 in Ulster
Across the state, out of more than 63,000, 583 came back positive. That's an infection rate of .92 percent. Sadly, 4 more people have died, bringing the statewide death toll to 25,394. Hospitalizations remain around 460 patients across the state.
