There is a push in Rockland to assign county sheriff's deputies inside government buildings.
Rockland County Executive Ed Day says armed security is needed for protection.
"It's not just terrorism or mass shootings. There's workplace violence, disputes," he says.
Day wants sheriff's deputies at 15 county posts now manned by unarmed guards.
He says it will save more than $1 million and better protect the public.
Rockland Sheriff Lou Falco says it won't work.
"If he wants us inside the building, he's going to have to supply the funding and manpower. He defunded what was needed. If he wants to give the funding and officers, we can do that," Falco says.
