Cornwall officials vote to 'fire' longtime ambulance corps
Cornwall officials voted last night to fire their longtime ambulance provider, after announcing the controversial plans last week.
The town terminated its agreement with Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps citing management and response time concerns.
New Windsor Ambulance Corps will now provide emergency medical and advanced life support services for the town and village under a new contract.
“Nothing is really going to change other than administration and oversight,” said Josh Wojehowski, Cornwall Town Supervisor. “We believe this is the best path forward to provide for the public safety of our residents.”
COVAC has until the end of July to leave the town-owned building they’re in.
New Windsor Ambulance Corps will then operate a second location there under the name, “Cornwall EMS.”
