An Eastchester woman is facing charges after police say she got behind the wheel drunk and drove the wrong way on the Tappan Zee Bridge Sunday.
According to state police, 28-year-old Kathleen Beaton was traveling to Westchester after leaving a party in Rockland County. At some point, Beaton allegedly turned around and went back on the bridge going the wrong way around 3 a.m.
Alert drivers called police and even the News 12 newsroom.
Officers shut down the affected lanes so no one would be injured while they waited for Beaton on the other side of the bridge. Authorities say her blood-alcohol level was .20, more than double the legal limit.
Beaton is charged with aggravated DWI. She's scheduled to appear in court at the end of June.
