Police and hazmat crews issued a warning to Yonkers residents earlier today after chlorine filled the air along Central Park Avenue. Firefighters say they received several calls at around 9 a.m. from homeowners complaining of a chlorine smell. They responded to the nearby Hill View water pumping station, where they found the chemical seeping from several tanks. Officials blocked off nearby streets, but insisted that the public never faced any danger. The leak was controlled in less than two hours.
The incident is still under investigation.
