Controversy is brewing in Ossining over a new craze in energy drinks.
Some parents say the "Cannabis Energy Drink," which features a marijuana leaf on the can, is promoting drugs and sends a message to children that there are drugs in the drink.
The manufacturer of the drink says it does not contain any THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.
According to its website, Cannabis Energy Drink contains hemp seed extract, caffeine, taurine and a "bunch of B vitamins." It says it causes no narcotics effect.
The cans have been sold at a Shell Gas Station off Route 133 in Ossining. When News 12 first got to the gas station and told the owner why they were there, he said he would no longer sell it because he doesn’t want to upset parents. He took down signs advertising the drink and removed the drinks from the refrigerator.
