Work is progressing at six kitchens being renovated in the East Ramapo school district.
Parents and students over the last few weeks have been complaining about the quality of food at the schools in the district.
The construction company involved in the work told the school board Tuesday night that it estimates the kitchens could be up and running again as early December, pending necessary inspections and approvals.
The superintendent of schools told News 12, "After several months of kitchen improvements and renovations in six of our East Ramapo schools, we look forward to the return of daily hot meal preparation for our students in early December."
In the meantime, the district began late last month delivering hot meals to students once a week.
It was also discussed during the board meeting that the kitchens at five other schools within the district will be upgraded during the summer so that it doesn't impact students.
