Con Edison and NYSEG will face some angry Westchester customers at a meeting Monday over the utilities? failure to promptly restore service after storms.
County Legislators Mike Kaplowitz (D-Westchester) and Tom Abinanti (D-Greenburgh) plan to drill representatives at the meeting. The mayor of Yonkers says he is also upset about how his city was left in the dark. Their constituents will testify at the hearing. One woman says she was without power for 52 hours after the remnants of Tropical Storm Ernesto blew through. Meanwhile, other utility customers dealt with live, downed power lines.
Westchester and Hudson Valley have been hit by several storms this year, leaving thousands without electricity. Representatives from the New York State Public Service Commission will also be present. The agency is supposed to oversee the utilities.
