Mount Vernon's longtime comptroller is the latest to enter the city's mayoral race.
Maureen Walker announced her candidacy Saturday, becoming the fifth Democrat to jump in. She was first elected comptroller in 1993, and is now in her sixth term.
She had also entered the Democrat primary race for mayor four years ago as well and lost to current incumbent Ernie Davis.
Walker says she brings a managerial background that is missing in other candidates.
Also in the race are Davis, state Sen. Ruth Hassell-Thompson, and city Councilmembers Deborah Reynolds and Richard Thomas.
