Community rallies together to help victims of Mamaroneck fire

A baby and a least three other people were rescued from a burning home in Mamaroneck Monday night.

Four Village of Mamaroneck police officers and one Larchmont officer took part in the rescue. Those officers range in experience from four years to 20.
Five people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but everyone is expected to be OK.
"Thank God no one died," said executive sirector for Fuller Center for Housing Jim Killoran.
The Fuller Center for Housing is now working to help the victims. Killoran says he's gotten a lot of calls from local businesses and people who want to help.
"Someone called and said 'Jim, I own laundromats, let me clean all their clothes because of the smell of fire,'" he said.
Killoran added that others have offered to help rebuild the home.
He just recently donated clothes to some of the victims, but according to Killoran, that isn't the biggest need right now.
"They really need a roof over their head," he said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Red Cross has been called in to help.
