Members of the clergy held a remembrance event at The Bristal on Monday to honor the lives lost during the Holocaust, as well as to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
Speakers at the event urged members of the public to reflect on the Holocaust and opt for peace - in light of recent increased Jewish discrimination.
"We see the resurgence of antisemitism today...Reminiscent of the Nazi-era of the 1930s here on college campuses, Jewish schools, yeshivot... synagogues are being defaced, vandalized, and it's scary," said one of the speakers, Cantor Mark Hirsh.
"Remember all the words of Dr. Martin Luther King who said, 'Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere," said the Rev. William Walker, with Calvary Baptist Church.
The event concluded with the lighting of memorial candles and prayers in Hebrew and English.
