Community Board 7 is working to combat violence after a shooting at Valentine Avenue and East 204th Street.
The shooting occurred on Oct. 14 just steps away from Community Board 7's offices, where members were holding meetings.
An NYPD tower now stands guard over Valentine Avenue and East 204th Street, along with audio devices known as shot spotters. Business owners say they have seen more police patrolling the area, but they say they still don't feel safe. Adaline Walker Santiago, the Chair of Community Board 7, says she wants the residents who live in the 52nd Precinct to work together and help fight crime.
Community Board 7 has a safety meeting every first Thursday of the month. Members of the board want the public to come forward and speak up at the next meeting on Nov. 6 so they can help fight crime in Norwood, Kingsbridge, Bedford Park and Fordham.
