Clinton on verge of becoming U.S. secretary of state
Rumors are swirling in Westchester as residents ponder who will replace Senator Hillary Clinton if she leaves to become President-elect Obama's next secretary of state.Though there seems to be a long list of candidates, many are saying it will not be easy to fill Sen. Clinton's shoes. Some have mentioned Andrew Cuomo as a replacement as well as Nita Lowey, a veteran of Congress. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has also been mentioned.Sources close to Clinton say she has already accepted the job offer and that the announcement will be made sometime after Thanksgiving. Gov. David Paterson has not started a formal search for Clinton?s replacement, but a number of names are being thrown around, including less-expected choices like Caroline Kennedy and Robert Kennedy.Sen. Clinton would have to be confirmed by the Senate first, but is expected to face few problems there.
