Officials
held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday morning for At
Home, Clarkstown’s newest addition.
The
store is located at the Shops in Nanuet. It occupies a vacant space left by
Macy’s in 2018.
The
property was redeveloped by Metropolitan Realty Associates.
Fans
of the store, which specializes in home decor products, say they’re
excited to make quarantining at home more comfortable.
Isabella Grix, 21, tells News 12 she’s already made three rounds to the brand-new
store.
“I
got a bunch of decors, a couple of fake plants, baskets, some accents. I'm
redecorating my room,” says Grix. “When I heard they were
opening, I got really excited."
The
store also brings six-figure taxes to Clarkstown. "It'll be a six-figure tax
payment to the school district, town and county so it's a big driver of
revenue,” says Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann.
The
Nanuet location is currently hiring. To apply, visit their
website.Other
new businesses include Shake Shack and Chipotle. A complete redo of the plaza
will also include more restaurants and a hotel.
"We
anticipate that if they get their approval in the next couple of months you may
see construction on that by the end of the year,” says Hoehmann.
Pearl
River resident Andrea Grix believes she feels it’ll be a good thing for
everyone. “I hate to see any businesses go out of business but feel like it'll
be a good thing for everyone,” says Grix.
