All Clarkstown schools switched to remote instruction for students and staff Wednesday because of temperatures in the mid-80s.

School district officials say the heat coupled with the masking requirement would make in-person instruction "challenging."

Most Clarkstown schools are not air conditioned and using fans is not an option because the coronavirus is an airborne virus.

Some parents were not happy about the decision.

"My opposition to it is, where does it end?" said Jennifer Nigro. "It's disappointing for my child, who does not do well with the technology learning that they provide."

Other parents were understanding.

"Any kid who has breathing problems or you know, they're probably just trying to be safe. Might've been an overreaction, I'd rather that than the other way," said Daniel Brownstein.
