The town of Clarkstown celebrated a major milestone today with its 230th Founder's Day.
To commemorate the 1791 founding, a conference room in Town Hall was officially deemed the new historic map room.
News 12 is told many of the historic Rockland and Clarkstown maps were donated. The oldest map dates to 1854.
The collection also features a 1905 wanted poster for horse thieves.
“As supervisor and members of the Town Board, we thought it was important to continue to show and demonstrate our local history and hope it becomes a further resource for our residents,” said Town Supervisor George Hoehmann.
The map room is available for visitation during Town Hall business hours.
