Mount Vernon police are standing guard over barrels of potentially dangerous chemicals that sources say were dumped illegally at a Department of Public Works facility.
City officials say as many as three of the barrels broke open Thursday, spilling contents onto the ground.
News 12 was told that jars of liquid were inside, but it isn't clear what that liquid is.
Some labels on the barrels say "organic peroxide," and others say "flammable" and "corrosive."
The Department of Environmental Conservation arrived Friday and fenced in the remaining barrels.
News 12 has been told that the chemicals may be linked to a doctor's office in New Rochelle.
