A gymnasium in Chappaqua is open again with strict health and safety procedures in place to keep students safe.
Mia Hernandez, of Sleepy Hollow, has been doing gymnastics for seven years, but COVID-19 has kept the 16-year-old off the mat for the last three months.
On Monday, she was back with her competition team.
"I've missed it so much, just being able to practice and tumble and everything. So, I'm just really excited to be back with my friends and my coaches," she says.
World Cup Gymnastics in Chappaqua is now open for full activities.
New guidelines like symptom screenings, temperature checks, sanitizing pads for shoes, daily disinfecting, social distancing dots and spreading out activities across the mat put kids' health first.
The ownership has worked for months since the gym closed in March to get ready for the moment when kids could return.
Gym director Jason Hebert says he is proud to reopen.
"A lot of kids love gymnastics, they love exercise, and this is the perfect place for them," he says.
Half-capacity at the gym limits it to just 48 kids spread across the floor at once.
