Today
marks 39 years since the infamous Brinks Robbery in Nyack.
Nyack police officers Edward O'Grady and Waverly
"Chipper" Brown, along with Brinks Security Guard Peter Paige, were
gunned down during the 1981
armored truck robbery.
The Brinks Robbery Memorial at the crime scene at the Exit 11 southbound
Thruway entrance of Route 59 stands as a permanent reminder of the sacrifice
given by the men.
An annual
remembrance ceremony is being held at 4 p.m. today. Social distancing
and mask-wearing rules will be in effect for the event.
