In honor of National Black Business Month, we're spotlighting Black Parakeetz Paint, Swig, and Sing, a unique entertainment venue in Nyack.

Owned by husband-and-wife duo Naomi and Terry Clarke, the business combines painting sessions, cool drinks, and a karaoke lounge under one roof.

Located on Main Street, the establishment sits on a historic property once owned by former slave Cynthia Hesdra, dating back to the late 1800s.

The Clarkes find this deeply meaningful, feeling proud to be part of the legacy of full ownership.

Despite opening during the pandemic in September 2021, Black Parakeetz has already won the New York Small Business Development Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

The owners describe their space as a beautiful setting where adults can have a great time, release themselves, and enjoy fantastic cocktails.

Black Parakeetz is preparing for a big celebration on September 18, coinciding with Jazz Week, marking their third anniversary.
