The CDC says more than 160 expectant mothers have died from the virus - including 22 pregnant women in the last month.
The CDC says COVID-19 vaccination rates among pregnant women remain low, despite the risk of severe illness from the disease.
Data from the CDC shows that only around 31% of those who are pregnant, from ages 18 to 49, have received a dose of the vaccine.
The CDC also enforced the same urgent alert on social media.
The CDC released a tweet saying "If you are pregnant, get vaccinated to protect yourself and your baby."
The Vaxmobile has been traveling all around Nassau County this week encouraging not just pregnant women but everybody to get vaccinated. It stops in Baldwin tomorrow.
CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, responded to that tweeting by saying, "I remember being pregnant & how special and stressful it was. Now, I can only imagine the heightened concern a pandemic adds. In a time where a lot feels scary, I strongly encourage those pregnant or considering pregnancy to talk with your OB about the benefits of COVID-19 vaccines.”
