A walk was held in Congers Monday to honor veterans and local heroes.
The Carry The Load walk took place on Lake Street and Burnside Avenue.
Hundreds of walkers took about a one-mile trek with the American flag. The walkers then handed off the flag to other walkers to continue the journey into New York City and eventually Dallas, Texas.
The flag came from Boston and made a pit stop in West Point before it reached Congers.
The Carry The Load organization was started in 2011 by a former Navy SEAL and aims to restore the memories and sacrifices of the veterans who served overseas.
The goal is to get the flag down to Dallas before Memorial Day.
