Carmel Fire Department urges drivers to slow down when passing emergency vehicles after member struck

Firefighters and police got a call on March 15 for an overturned car on Stoneleigh Avenue, near the Putnam Hospital Center.

The Carmel Fire Department is reminding the community to slow down and be alert when driving past emergency vehicles after one of their members was struck last week. 
Firefighters and police got a call on March 15 for an overturned car on Stoneleigh Avenue, near the Putnam Hospital Center.
News 12 was told the driver was able to get out and was evaluated by EMS.. 
While on the scene, a member of the fire department was hit by a passing vehicle. They suffered minor injuries and were treated by ambulance personnel on site. 
The department is urging drivers to slow down and move over when passing a scene like this.
