Cardinal Timothy Dolan was in Rockland County today to bless a Catholic hospital and the people who work there.
Earlier this year, Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern opened a new emergency room, and today, Cardinal Dolan gave it his blessing.
Cardinal Dolan says he could sense from the staff their commitment to service to all patients, from the newborn to the terminally ill. He says taking care of people's medical needs is part of the church's mission.
The hospital is run by Bon Secours Charity Healthcare System as part of the Catholic health care ministry.
Part of the cardinal's visit was to honor two teens whose quick actions helped medical professionals save their father's life.
Back in July, News 12 reported that Connor Meigh called 911 when his father, Michael, suffered a heart attack.
His brother, Sean, who had just renewed his CPR certification, administered CPR until paramedics could arrive and take his father to Good Samaritan.
In addition to being recognized by Cardinal Dolan, the two teens have been honored by the American Heart Association for saving their father.
