New Windsor police went to Route 9W and John Street for a report of an erratic driver around 6 p.m.
Police say a dark colored Acura slammed into numerous cars and took out several street signs - along with a fire hydrant on Route 9W and Mill Street in New Windsor. They say at some point, someone walking nearby shot at the car.
The gunfire did not hit anyone.
The car eventually crashed into a wall of the Mill Street Bridge that runs over the Quassaick Creek into the City of Newburgh.
Police ask anyone with information to contact them.
