A community favorite restaurant in Suffern was heavily damaged Tuesday when a car came crashing into the building.
It happened around 10:30 a.m. at Curley’s Corner on Orange Avenue.
The driver was treated at the scene and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for further advanced medical care, according to police.
"I still believe it may have had some sort of medical situation. Had come down the road, jumped the curb and came right into the restaurant," says Curley.
Village mayor and owner of the restaurant, Michael Curley says no one else was hurt.
He says fortunately, they weren't open yet.
"I had a Zoom meeting, otherwise I would have been sitting here," Curley tells News 12.
Neighbors and frequent customers say this restaurant is a big part of the community.
"It's just always there for us, me and my friends growing up in the neighborhood, just a classic staple in town," says Suffern resident, Ross O'Hanlon.
Curley says fixing the damage is going to cost in the hundreds of thousands.
He doesn't know right now how long that will take.
"I'll find a way to get it back open," says Curley.
