The New York State Cannabis Control Board recently approved permits for two testing labs to be developed.
The board was called into an emergency session last Friday to consider two resolutions: The first sought to approve applications for two registered organizations to transition into the adult-use cannabis market. The second sought to approve permits for two cannabis testing labs.
"We're being asked to consider things we could easily consider in our January board meeting in two weeks,” said one board member. “And there are emergency things we could be talking about like the push people are asking us to consider extending the growers showcase."
The vote to approve the applications failed, yet the vote to approve permits for two new labs passed.
New York State’s executive director of Cannabis Management Chris Alexander promised a webinar in the next two weeks to allow all applicants to be trained on licensing and compliance.
