Veterans in The Bronx and across the nation paid homage to the U.S. servicemen and women killed 70 years ago today in the attacks on Pearl Harbor. On Dec. 7, 1941, Japanese aircraft launched a surprise bombing on the naval fleet in Honolulu, killing more than 2,400 American citizens. The attack jettisoned the United States into World War II. In commemoration, an annual wreath-laying ceremony took place at Bicentennial Veterans Memorial Park in Throgs Neck. The park recently underwent a $1.3 million renovation to plant a garden and make other improvements.
