Businesses nationwide are scrambling to pay their employees after the sudden closure of a Clifton Park payroll company.
Pay day has come and gone for some employees with the money never making it into the accounts of thousands of workers. Many of them woke up to learn that not only did they not get paid, but money was actually removed from their accounts.
Marlene Castricato, from New City, says she works for a company affected by the sudden shutdown of MyPayrollHR.
Castricato says she’s scrambling and her employer is scrambling for credit so that he can try to keep the company afloat.

“The paycheck was reversed and then they double dipped. They came back in to our money and put their hands in our wallet and pulled that same amount out of twice,” she says.
MyPayRollHR has not returned News 12’s calls for comment.

New York lawmakers are now speaking out, calling the company’s alleged actions unacceptable.

"We have to hold MyPayrollHR accountable and we also have to figure out exactly what went wrong here and expose the loopholes that they've taken advantage of that's left thousands of people victimized and how can we close that loophole legislatively to make sure that it never happens again,” said Sen. David Carlucci.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is also calling for a statewide investigation into the sudden shutdown.
