Business owners across the county are breathing a sigh of relief tonight after learning that 2012 budget subsidies will continue to help them manage their operating expenses. Opal Dunstan, the COO of the Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center, says her facility will still receive county funding. If not, she says she would have been forced to fire employees and close certain programs. "We're providing the care that's needed and it's saving taxpayers and the government money because we're providing it at a cheaper rate," Dunstan says. She adds that her facility caters to nearly 300,000 people every year. Several nature centers, including the Lenoir Preserve in Yonkers, also avoided cuts to their funding.
